Glamping
“Glamping”, in short is camping in style. The name comes from a mix of the words camping and glamorous. Yurts and Teepee tents are the new rage when it comes to camping, whilst still being comfortable. This new hastily growing trend is exactly what you need! When you’re young it’s easy to sleep in a normal tent with minor comfortability issues, however as you get older these minor issues increase into ones that you would rather not endure. The solution some have used to tackle this problem is getting a bigger tent, this however Is not the best solution because if you want the best comfort for your camping trips then you should rather be thinking about buying yourself a yurt or a teepee. A yurt is a large dome shaped structure and if you get the right size can comfortably fit you and those with you in without the issues of a tent. The structures are waterproof and will keep you dry so long as you stay inside. There are portable yurts as well as permanent ones so make sure you get the right type, you don’t want to accidently set up a permanent one in a campsite.
A portable yurt can be bundled onto a cars roof rack or in your trailer for transport. Camping yurts come in a few different build options and are sold in three sizes – 12, 14 and 16 feet (3.65, 4.26 and 4.87 meters). All camping yurts consist of 5 basic parts, the roof wheel, the poles, a lattice wall (which can be made into smaller sections for ease of transport), a door frame and a light colored cotton canvas (in order to let the most natural light in). Most the cottons are treated for UV, water and mildew resistance although the option of untreated cotton is available for some.
With Practice a good sized yurt can be set up in around half an hour and most other will be able to have theirs ready for use in under an hour. For those of you wondering the space given by a yurt is plenty for a queen sized airbed for that extra comfort.
A teepee (also known as tipi) is a cone-like structure introduced first by the Native Americans and now modernised. Just like a yurt it will give you that luxurious spaciousness which will turn your camping trip into a glamping trip. The modern teepee uses a canvas sheet fitted around long wooden poles which are buried into the ground to avoid collapse and keep the shape. An added bonus to a teepee is the opening at the top which is for the use of a smoke flap allowing you and open fire for cooking and heating, this will keep you warm in the night and will stop the need to go in and out the tent to check on what you are cooking. Just like a yurt a good sized teepee will give you the ability to stand inside, something which a tent cannot offer. Most present day campers prefer the use of a teepee to a tent due to the feel of luxury. They are good looking structures too ands won’t be shunned by other campers but rather envied. Both Structures are perfect for any weather condition with the capability of being waterproof and being robust enough to withstand the wind. However, of the two the teepee is more lightweight (and so easier to carry) and requires little to no fuss when being built as the idea natives used was a structure that could be assembled and dis-assembled very quickly with little effort.
Both are great for space and comfortability and so the matter of which is better is an opinionated subject and so should be decided by you and what you want out of your camping.
